Measurement

If you want to calculate the measuements  of an object just select that object Go to the    Utilities panel (far right) and choose Measure. It will show the surface area, length & dimensions of that selected object.

Hi Friends,,, If your interface/panel disappeared you have this options to fix the problem: a.) Maybe You are in the "expert" mode...press CTR+x... b.) Customize > Customize User Interface > Toolbars Tab > Reset!  c.) "Start" button on windows > Autodesk > 3Ds Max > change graphics mode  d.) There should be a 3dsmax.ini file in ur max folder...delete it and start 3Ds Max again... e.) Customize > load custom UI scheme.

Tip of the day

Hi Friends,, This is  specially for my students  & max users Who sometimes while working  can't anymore move their  object.

Probably they  have pressed the key X. Press again X to enable the move tool (GIZMO).

Similar problem: You can select only one object, all other objects can't be selected anymore: probably you have pressed SPACE and locked the object. Press again SPACE to unlock it.

Segments

Segment value means how many polygons or divisons (along each axis ) make up each dimension or an object. Higher segment value will make the object smoother & an extra resolution for being affected by modifiers..

Instead to mesh smooth a box, use from the "extended primitives" a "chamfer box"... the result is the same, but the chamfer box" has less polygons !

The Start New Shape Option

The Start New Shape Option

    creates a new object with every new shape drawn in a

 view port.

Leaving this option unchecked lets you create compound shapes which consists of several shapes used to create one object.

Transform Center

Use Pivot Point Center:-
This is the pivot point of the selected object. The default for selections of a single object.















Use Selection Center:-This is collective center of a selection. The default for multiple selections of objects.

Use Transform Center:-

This is the origin of the current coordinate system that has been selected from the coordinate system drop down list.
