Relax Modifier

Relax Modifier smoothes the overall geometry by simplifying the vertices . It relaxes the areas that are too tight by separating the vertices that lie closer than an average distance.
First of select the object i.e ChamferBox.
Now apply the Relax Modifier & increase the Relax & Iterations values.

To Ripple or Wave an object.

Ripple and Wave create wave patterns like ripples on water or shock waves in outer space. 

First of all select a plane with more segments.












Apply a Ripple modifier.(or Wave modifier).
Adjust Amplitude1 to affect rippling in one direction. Then adjust Amplitude 2 to affect the other direction.
Change the Wave length as needed.
Use decay if you want the ripple to fall off as it moves away from the modifier center.
The Phase helps you animate Ripple or Wave  modifier over time.

Noise Modifier

Hello friends, u guyz very well know that Modifiers change the structure and appearance of objects. So todays post is about the Noise modifier which is used to give your object a wild look or some irregular ,jagged or chaotic surfaces.You can use it for rocks, hills, mountains.oceans, moon, planets or landscapes. 
To apply a Noise Modifier to a  surface:-










Select an object with good segments.
Now choose the Noise modifier from the modifier list.
Just increase the Strength parameters, Fractal & number of Iterations  to get this randomly roughness.Checking Animate Noise automatically animate noise using Frequency & Phase setting.

Taper Modifier

Taper Modifier proportionally scales the ends of an object i.e scale up one end and scale down the other end. Just set its Amount & Curve value & Limits for better curvatures and tapering.

Twist Modifier


Twist Modifier just twists the object about an axis i.e rotates  one end of an axis in one direction and the other end in the opposite direction.

Stretch Modifier


Stretch Modifier moves one axis in one direction & other axis in the opposite direction i.e it pulls along one axis while pushing the other  two. well, the maximum scaling happens  at the middle & diminishes towards the end.

Bend Modifier

Bend Modifier is used to bend the geometry around a user definable axis.Just set its parameters like Angle,Direction, Axis And Limits. The  bend angle defines the bend in the vertical direction & direction value defines the bend in the horizontal direction.
By using limits you can limit the bending of  the geometry to the set boundaries.

Affect Region Modifier



Affect Region modifier can raise or lower the surface region
  i.e it can cause a region to be bubble up or to be indented. 
Its parameters like Fall off sets the size of the affected area , the Pinch value make the region tall & thin  and  the Bubble value rounds the affected region.

FFD

Free form deformation(FFD) modifiers deform  objects using a lattice of control points instead of a gizmo. The more control points in the lattice, the better you can articulate the deformations.
To freely deform an object:-
Select an object &  Apply FFD modifier & A lattice of control points surrounds the object.


Click Conform to Shape , Now select and transform the control points of the lattice.













If you need to have finer control over your deformation, choose FFD Cyl or FFD Box, and click Set Number of Points in the lattice.

Mesh Smooth

Mesh Smooth Modifier  smoothes the entire surface of an object by applying a chamfer function to both vertices & edges at the same time. It has the greatest effect on sharp corners & edges.

To Mesh Smooth an object:-
Select an object.
Apply Mesh Smooth modifier.

In the Subdivision Amount parameters, slowly increase the Iterations value to increase the overall number of divisions in mesh. 
Now reduce the Smoothness value to optimize the mesh.












So it works by adding an extra face for each vertex and edge in a mesh.

Sweep


Sweep
This  modifier is used to extrude a cross-section along a spline or path. It is similar to the Bevel Profile  but is a more efficient method. 



 The  modifier allows you to work with a series of pre-made cross-sections such as angles, channels and wide flanges.
 You can also use your own splines  as custom sections that you create in 3ds Max .

Bevel Profile

Bevel Profile is a modifier that extrudes a spline using a second spline to define the outline of the beveled edges.

First of all make a spline and a profile
 Now choose the spline and apply the modifier Bevel profile and from its parameter roll out choose the option Pick Profile and select the profile you have made.



The final result would be the extruding the spline using another shape.

Bevel Modifier

Hello friends , 
Todays post  is regarding extruding a spline using different widths to bevel the edges.

To Bevel a text:-

Select a text Spline object
Apply a Bevel modifier

In the Bevel Values rollout, enter a value for the height and the Outline values for different levels.

Setting Values for each level causes additional extrusion and beveling.

Lathe

The Lathe modifier generates a mesh object by revolving a spline on an axis.


To lathe a spline:-
Select a Spline   
Apply a Lathe modifier.

The spline is lathed along its central Y axis.
(you can use X & Z axis also in the direction group & align their axis to min., center or max.)


Now adjust the axis of revolution as needed.






















 (You can make these axes move freely by clicking the axis sub object of lathe in the stack display.)

Lattice Modifier



 Lattice modifier changes an object into a lattice by creating struts where all the edges are located or by replacing each joint with an object.This modifier considers all edges as struts and all vertices as joints

Extrusion Errors


There can be only 2 mistakes when your extruded (spline + extrude modifier) object has an error:

a) you have overlapping segments in your spline.

b) the shape is not closed-check where you did not weld the vertexes.
